Lulu Vallee grew up in Northern California and her work has been heavily influenced by her time living in Oakland. In the early 90s while getting Her BFA from California College of the Arts, She painted on found objects like wood and old dresses. After getting her BFA, she moved south to Los Angeles getting an MFA at Otis College of Art and Design.
Lulu’s work uses a mix of different mediums ( painting, drawing, collaging on panels/ painting enamel on large-scale photographs) to investigate how the surrounding design landscape permeates her experience. Her work addresses ideas on how design, and the elements of design, can be used metaphorically.
Lulu Vallee Lives in the Mt. Wahsington Hills with her daughter, son, and her walking companion Spud, a 6-year-old Whippet.
